এই তো সেদিন গেলে - বুঝিনি দেখবো না আর। জানলে দুচোখ ভরে দেখে নিতাম - আরও কয়েকবার। এখন ঘুমিয়ে তুমি, এমন বেঘোর ঘুম, উঠোনা ডাকি যতোবার। এই যে এমন ঘুম - প্রতিদিন হয় না সবার। যতো ডাকি, জানি জেগে উঠবে না আর। তারপরও মনে হয় - কেমন চুপ করে গেলে! আমিও দাঁড়িয়ে চুপ, জানি কথা বলবে না আর। তারপরও কি যেন বলতে চাই, মনে হয় কি যেন বলা হয় নাই। জীবনের এতোদুর গড়িয়ে যদিও এখন আর, বলার, কোন মানে নাই। যে ইথারে কথা বয়ে নিয়ে যায়, রুহের জগতে পৌঁছায় - তার সাধ্যে নাই। তারপরও মনে হয়, দাঁড়িয়ে তোমার পাশে কি যেনো বলা হয় নাই। কি করে ভুলে গেলাম? ইয়া- সীন পড়া হয় নাই! তথাপি সালাম যায় বহুদূর - আলমে বারযাখ। ইয়া- সীন, ফাতেহা পাঠ চলুক, তোমার রু-হে পৌঁছাক। Read on Twitter

  I watched only one interview of him and of Hulusi Akar during Operation Spring Shield. And I immediately became an admirer of both them. I remember Kalin's deep voice and clarity of speech. And Akar's ability to stay focus and smartly hold on to the government narrative. Kalin's English speaking ability surprised me. So I looked up and learned that he is an American graduate. That explained a lot. I also realized for the first time that with such talented team members President Erdogan is building a generational legacy. But learning about Kalin's theological expertise today just blew my mind. That he is a disciple of H. Nasr. That Erdogan has taken Kalin as his protégé perhaps signifies his vision for Türkiye. যদি জামাত-বিএনপি ও অন্যান্য স্বৈরাচার বিরোধীদের মধ্যে আবারও জোট হয় তবে আমার মতে তাদের যুগপৎ প্রচেষ্টার যেকোন অর্জন বিএনপি, জামাত, ও অন্যান্য এর মধ্যে ৫ ভাগের যথাক্রমে ২.৫, ২.০, ও ০.৫ ভাগ অনুপাতে বন্টন করা উচিত। এটা একেবারে আনুমানিক। আমি ধরে নিয়েছি যে বিএনপি এখনও সর্বাধিক জনপ্রিয় রাজনৈতিক দল। কিন্তু গত এক যুগেরও বেশী সময় ধরে ভোট না হওয়ায় কোন রাজনৈতিক দলের জনভিত্তি সম্পর্কেই দৃঢ় মন্তব্য করা যায় না। বিশেষ করে ১৩-১৪ সালের দিকের উত্তাল আন্দোলনের সময়টাতে জামাত উপ-নির্বাচনগুলোতে যে চমক দেখিয়েছিলো তাতে ভবিষ্যতে গ্রহণযোগ্য নির্বাচনে তারা যদি বিএনপি-কে, অন্তত হারাতে না পারুক, কঠিন লড়াইয়ে ফেলে দিয়ে শতাধিক আসনে জয়ী  হয়ে আসে তাতেও আমি আশ্চর্য হবো না। তবে আমার কাছে মূল বিবেচ্য হলো জামাতের জনপ্রিয়তা - কতোটুকু জামাতের রাজনৈতিক দর্শনের উপর মানুষের আস্থা আর কতোটুকু স্রেফ তাদের ওপর আওয়ামীদের কৃত অত্যাচারের প্রতিক্রিয়া। অর্থাৎ এটা কি জামাতের সাফল্য না আওয়ামীদের ব্যর্থতা। যেমনটা বিএনপির ক্ষেত্রে আমি নিশ্চিত। বিএনপির ভবিতব্য যেকোন রাজনৈতিক বিজয় স্রেফ আওয়ামী ব্যর্থতার প্রমাণ, বিএনপির সফলতার নয়। বিএনপি আম...

A. R. Rahman's rendition of Nazrul's song is making the rounds:     Bangladeshis are very upset with this new rendition. But that's how they are. Very reactionary. Conservative in all its negative sense. The way they are sanctifying the tune of this song exposes the deep impression left by their Hindu past. The Hindu way is to sanctify anything and everything. But the reality is unlike Tagore Nazrul was not pedantic about the melody of his songs. For Tagore his melodies are integral part of his songs. Not for Nazrul. He was only concerned in preserving the verses. But I do think that certain melodies do not go well with the overall mood of certain songs. This is the case here. 'The song to wreck Havoc' should invoke the feelings of wrath and anger. Should incite total and reckless rebellion. Rahman's new rendition has failed to do so at least to the Bengali ear. I read my first adult fiction at the 6 th grade. From my maternal grandfather's collection. The title can be loosely translated as 'Billowing Youth'.  When my grandmother asked I brazenly admitted. The reason I take frequent long brakes from social media is because I don't like the way it influences me. For example, the other day that picture of Turkish Coat of Arms brought back my passion for classical European music that I frequented a long time ago. Then the next day the news of a war breaking out between As-Shām and Israhell. And the Qassam brigade's video. I imagined for a moment what it is to be present in that conflict.
