The Other Perspective

অনেকে দেখি ইদানিং বলছেন যে তারা সব রাজনৈতিক দলের আমল দেখেছেন। কোন আমলের ব্যাপারেই তারা সন্তুষ্ট নন। প্রায় সব রাজনৈতিক দলের ওপরই তাদের অবিশ্বাস জন্মে গেছে। তাই এবার তারা জামায়াতে ইসলামী-কে "একবার” ভোট দিয়ে "দেখতে চান”। এখন জামাতের কথা তাদের দলের লোকেরাই ভালো বলতে পারবে। তবে আমি যতোটুকু তাঁদের রাজনৈতিক দর্শন সম্পর্কে জানতে পেরেছি তাতে আমার মনে হয় "একবার”ভোট দিয়ে "দেখতে চাওয়ার” বদলে ভোট না দেয়া ভালো। কারন জামাত গড়পড়তা কোন রাজনৈতিক দল নয়। ব্যাপারটা আল্লাহর ওপর ঈমান আনার মতো। অর্থাৎ আপনি যেমন বলতে পারেন না যে দুই-তিন দিন নামাজ পড়ে দেখি ভাগ্য বদল হয় কিনা, জামাতের ব্যাপারটা-ও ঠিক তেমন। ঈমান আনতে হয় বুঝে শুনে। এক পা এগিয়ে দুই পা পেছানোর ব্যাপার এখানে নাই। যদি মনে হয় ইসলাম সত্য তাহলে প্রাণ দিয়ে মৃত্যুর আগ পর্যন্ত এর ওপর বিশ্বাসে অটল থাকতে হবে। তদ্রুপ যদি মনে হয় জামাতের রাজনীতি-ই বাংলাদেশের জনগণকে মুক্তির দিশা দিতে পারে তাহলে শুধু "একবার” নয় বরং ভোট দিয়ে দিয়ে এর শেষ দেখে ছাড়তে হবে। মনে রাখবেন জামাত ক্ষমতায় আসা মানে দেশের সাধারণ মানুষের হাতে ক্ষমতা যাওয়া। জামাত ক্ষমতায় যা...

Ever since it has come to my knowledge, the Musolmanic polemics on God’s Hand, my mind kept thinking about it in rounds. The most basic usual meaning of it being metaphorical how simple and beautiful it was! But the literal insistence came up for a dwell with its idiotic stubbornness. For ignorance and idiocy has got its own pair of horns that it needs to ram on something. Anything. So it was said that God’s Hand is not metaphorical but rather literal. It happens to be the case that they do not resemble any hand of the creation! Now that is very typical nonsensical talk expected of deadheads. For if hand does not mean what we know of hand than its not a hand. But the mind cannot be easily satisfied with blunt logic. So it asks itself what do we know of hand? If we say that a four legged animal hugged with its hands why do we assume that its the frontal legs? What makes us think that the hands in our clocks and the hands in our doors have something in common and what is that? Is that so...

তারেক রহমান সাহেব ওনার পিতার কিছু গুন পেয়েছেন। দেশকে নিয়ে গঠনমূলক চিন্তা-ভাবনা করার প্রবণতা তার একটি। গঠনমূলক সব চিন্তাই কার্যকরী তা নয়। তার প্রয়োজনও নাই। প্রবণতা-টাই গুরত্বপূর্ণ। নিয়ত ভালো হওয়া চাই। সুতরাং বাংলাদেশ শান্টুমরালীগ এধরনের নির্বাচনী প্রতিশ্রতিকে দশ টাকায় চাল খাওয়ানোর সাথে তুলনা করতে পারে। করুক। তাতে যদি তাদের কিছু স্বান্তনা মিলে। খাউজানি যদি একটু কমে। দেশের মানুষের কিছু শান্তি হয়। পাঠক আমরা তো লগি-বৈঠা দিয়ে মানুষ পিটায় মারায় অভ্যস্ত নই। তাই সুযোগ পেয়ে একটু খোঁচা দিলাম। গেলো এক যুগেরও বেশী সময় ধরে চলা নিপীড়ন প্রসূত ক্ষোভ কিছুও যদি লাঘব হয়। তারেক রহমান সাহেবের এই গঠনমূলক চিন্তার প্রবণতা আগেও ছিলো। যেটা বিশেষত চার দলীয় জোট 1 সরকারের সময়ে সামনে এসেছে সবচেয়ে বেশী। তাকে নিয়ে সে সময়ে যে ব্যাপক সমালোচনা ও তার বিপরীতে আওয়ামী মাফিয়া আমলে তার বিরুদ্ধে আনিত অভিযোগের কোনটিই বিশ্বাসযোগ্যভাবে প্রমাণ করতে ব্যর্থ হওয়ার বিষয়টি নিয়ে আমি অনেক ভেবেছি। আমার মতে এর দ্বারা প্রমাণিত হয় যে তারেক রহমানের নেতৃত্বের ব্যাপারে বাংলাদেশ বিরোধী চক্রটি বেশ দুশ্চিন্তায় ছিলো। তাই স্বাভাবিকভাবেই এই নেতৃত্বকে...

The perils of people reading random books on their own are many. Misreading is one of such. Take for example Kahlil Gibran’s book ‘The Prophet’. I came across many people in BD who think it is inspired by the Islamic Prophet ﷺ. So during my undergrad while doing a project for Communication 101 course or something like that it surprised me to find out that the book was actually inspired by Abdul Baha.  A false Prophet. An apostate. What’s interesting is his connection to Esperanto an artificially created language with the aim of making it the lingua franca of the world. The so-called Universal Language. After almost a decade and a half I don’t remember the details but in that project I tried to draw a parallel between AllTongue and technologies similar to Google Translate.
